From the front of Intermarché Carvoeiro, you could be forgiven for thinking it was just another supermarket. But when you get nearer the entrance, you’ll start to appreciate what lies within. On the approach, there’s a large self-service laundry area with industrial- size washers and dryers, perfect for those larger loads. Next to it is an artisanal pizza kiosk, where you can buy freshly prepared pizzas and either sit in the sun eating them fresh from the oven or take them home.
Walking into the superstore, there is a selection of ATM cash dispensers and glass cases containing a large variety of jewellery and gift items next to the florist. The florist itself has premade bouquets and houseplants for those in a hurry, or they can make up a floral arrangement to suit your taste and budget. To the left, there’s a 5àsec dry cleaner where you can freshen up your finery or duvets. A Bota Minuto franchise is perfect to cut keys, buy signs and locks, and in case of an emergency, the locksmith can come to your residence to fix broken locks or anything else you might need. Then there’s Bright Mobiles, the phone shop where you can buy a new mobile, have repairs taken care of or find accessories.
The bakery is in this area too, and they have a great selection of loaves of bread and pastry items fresh from the oven to tempt you as you walk by. They sell gluten-free products here and lovely cakes too. Inter Saúde is the superstore’s Parapharmcy, perfect for picking up vitamins, pills, lotions and potions to help with various ailments. Onsite hairdresser Salão Ketta offers all sorts of hair treatments from a quick wash and blow-dry to a full head of highlights.
Tabaco do Rio is the news agency where you can pick up your copy of the Algarve Resident or Essential Algarve, buy tobacco products, pay your A22 motorway tolls or even try your luck at the lottery. The onsite coffee shop is a good spot to grab a quick coffee or even a full, cooked lunch. You’ll also find an electrical department with televisions, coffee machines, fridges, cookers, blenders, irons and almost anything you need in a kitchen. As if all this wasn’t enough, there is a baby section with cots and essentials; a car section; a home section with heaters, fans, linens and pillows; bicycles and scooters; Christmas and Easter decorations; home scents and gifts galore.
