LOCAL CHARITIES are constantly raising money for those who need it. From quiz nights in bars to health and beauty events – every little helps. Here is a round up of some of the many Algarve charity events held in aid of animals recently.
Over 250 people wined and dined and were entertained by the Copa Cabaret group at the Adega de Marina de Lagos at the sell-out event in aid of the new Bamboo Charity for abandoned animals, which raised a total of 4,000 euros. “Your support is immensely appreciated. The Bamboo Association would like to thank all the volunteers who gave their time and effort for free,” event organiser, Nana said.
The money raised will go towards a 16-acre farm, which will feature stables and a vet’s clinic. Nana revealed that she would also like to build a classroom to educate children about animal welfare and a home for rescued dogs in the near future. This project is ongoing, and around 50,000 euros is still needed to finish the building work. Anyone wanting to help Nana, or adopt or sponsor a donkey should call 282 788 345.
