Members and friends enjoyed 10-pin bowling on Monday, January 16 at Hot Shot Bowling, Albufeira Marina, followed by a meal. A quiz evening and meal held at the Wander Inn, Albufeira on January 18 was won by the team headed by Pat and Alan Camplin-Smith.
A very cold, cloudy morning on January 19 was the start of the Super 10’s Competition. Four rinks were played against Albufeira CATS Bowling Club. CATS won, although very amicable hot drinks were consumed after the match and appreciated by everyone. The return match, at Albufeira CATS home ground, takes place on Thursday, January 26.
Another sparkling sunny, if cold, Saturday, January 21, Balaia Bowls Club played their Bowls Algarve League Week 17 matches. The PODS Team won one rink at Alvor against the Rooks, whilst the Whalers played at Balaia against Floresta Rangers, winning all three rinks. This maintains the PODS in 14th place in the League, and Whalers move up to ninth place.
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, whether new or experienced, and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 09.45am for a 10am start. All are welcome.
