Portugal’s salaries are already the ‘ugly sisters’ of the developed world, but now Eurostat has confirmed that inequality between the highest and lowest pay-packets is one of the worst-ranking too. Only Cyprus, Romania and Poland see more inequality while we lag behind other less-than-stellar economies like Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Data was missing however for Greece and Croatia. If it existed, we might have scored ‘better’.
