Europol reports 16 ‘jihadi brides and 27 minors with links to Portugal’ remain in camps in Syria

Europol’s latest report on terrorism refers to 16 jihadi brides and 27 minors with links to Portugal still being held in Syria. This suggests plans said to have been underway in 2019 to repatriate some or all of these people (click here) have not moved forwards. The report cited by Expresso concedes: “Portugal expressed significant concerns arising from the possible return or repatriation to Europe of jihadists and their families… however it has been noted that contrary to expectations the number of these returning to Europe has been relatively low”.
