The stunningly beautiful Praia dos Galapinhos in Setúbal has been named ‘Europe’s Best Beach 2017’ by online portal European Best Destinations.
Fifteen were nominated but “travellers from around the world decided that Galapinhos was the most beautiful”. The portal praises it especially for being set in the “unspoilt nature” of the Arrábida Nature Park.
In fact, it describes Portugal as “extraordinary” and says that “more and more travellers from all over the world are discovering it with amazement”.
It goes on to also recommend visits to the “beautiful cities of Lisbon and Porto (elected best European destination three times)” as well as a “romantic stay in Sintra”. People can also “enjoy the wild beauty of the Azores and the luxuriance of the island of Madeira”.
Other nominees for Europe’s best beach were Canal d’Amour, Porto Timoni, Seychelles, Simos and Xi (Greece), Santa Giulia and Palombaggia (Corsica, France), Moscenicka Draga (Croatia), Pregonda, Cala Agulla, Mitjaneta, Ballota and Playa de las Teresitas (Spain) and Monterosso al Mare (Italy).
