A PETITION against Loulé Câmara and electricity company EDP, which began construction on a substation in Almancil, in a greenbelt area last year, is now being investigated by the European Commission.
Residents of Torre wrote to the Committee on Petitions in the European Parliament, alleging that the construction did not have a building licence and they were not properly informed about the project (see The Resident August 17 and 24, 2007 editions).
With no response from the câmara, residents wrote to many organisations, including the European Parliament, which has now asked the European Commission to conduct a preliminary investigation.
