IT IS now possible to contact the emergency services in any European country by dialing 112, the EU’s common emergency number.
Although the service has been available for several years, not all countries had adopted the number until now.
Existing national emergency numbers will not be replaced by 112. In most countries, it operates alongside the existing numbers but Portugal, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden, have opted for it to be the only emergency number.
