ACCORDING TO the French police, a 31-year old man has been arrested and is suspected of being the new military chief of the Basque separatist group ETA.
Aitzol Irionda was arrested along with two others near Gerde, south-west France, carrying guns and fake identity documents.
Spanish Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said that the authorities would continue to pursue and arrest ETA members “until this finishes”.
For anyone considering taking over as head of ETA, Perez Rubalcaba had this warning: “I can assure them that, from this moment, we are looking for you”.
