Spanish beer company Estrella Damm has announced the first edition of ‘Chefs à Prova’ (Chefs to the Test), a new gastronomic event which has challenged over 50 chefs to “create unique gastronomic experiences” that put beer in the spotlight – both in the glass and on the plate.
Six restaurants in the Algarve are taking part in the inauguration edition: Bottle, Check In and Monky (Faro); Aurora by Vitor Veloso and Cafézique (Loulé); and Numa (Portimão).
The participating eateries across Portugal have centred their menus around the “seasonal flavours of each region”, with each eatery presenting four dishes and four beers.
The four beers that will be tasted by guests are Estrella Damm, Voll Damm, Bock Damm and Inedit. Chefs are also being asked to cook one of the dishes with one of the beers that it will be paired with.
Aveiro, Coimbra, Porto, Covilhã, Évora, Lisbon and the Azores are some of the other regions where restaurants will be taking part in the event, which runs until February 28.
“During these days, chefs will have to reinvent themselves, promising to surprise the palates of everyone who tries these menus,” organisers say.
“Estrella Damm is a disruptive brand which makes us rethink gastronomy. Chefs à Prova is proof of this: a different initiative which makes pairs dishes with beers – and not the other way around,” said Nádia Franco, Brand Manager at Estrella Damm.
“We want to give consumers the opportunity to enjoy unique gastronomic experiences which will allow them to get to know the world of Damm, which for years has been challenging the status quo,” she added.
