Estoi Rotary donations

Disadvantaged members of the Estoi community are being helped by the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International as the club works to boost milk donations to families.

Each month, registered families in the area are able to collect a free bag of food from Casa do Povo which contains staple items such as rice, beans, pasta, olive oil and a small quantity of milk.

The food bags are provided by the Food Bank but the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International has been funding and delivering additional monthly supplies of milk to substantially increase the quantity already provided, particularly for children.

The club first began helping in 2009 when there were 45 registered families representing 83 adults and 35 children.

This number has now risen to 58 families of 108 adults and 39 children and the club donates 49 litres of milk each month.

A spokesman for the club said: “We would be very interested to hear from individuals or organisations that would like to become involved in helping the disadvantaged in society.”
