The historic gardens of the Palace of Estoi will be the setting for the seventh Mediterranean Garden Fair on Saturday, November 7.
Plants lovers will have a lot to look forward to this year, with novelties including specialists in roses, jasmines, passionflowers, groundcover succulents and especially selected plants for Algarve gardens, including the “ravishing and rarely available” Belle Portugaise rose, popular for its “large shell pink flowers”.
Another addition to the fair hosted by the Mediterranean Gardening Association will be a panel of skilled gardeners on hand to answer questions relating to “fruit and vegetable growing, dry gardens, native plants, propagating, and pests and diseases”.
Plant seeds, bulbs and even new and second-hand books will be available for sale, with free entertainment for children also offered.
Plant nurseries and main exhibitors will be found in the old parking area in the lower historic gardens of the Palace, normally not open to the public.
A plant crèche will be located next to the nurseries so that visitors can make their purchases and collect everything with their car at the end of their visit.
Free parking will be available at Estoi market, with a free shuttle bus service between the car park and fair.
Tickets cost €2 and allow free entry to one child. The fair will be held between 11am and 4pm.
