Escolhido rosé from Quinta dos Santos

Located just to the west of Carvoeiro in the Algarve, Quinta dos Santos is best known for its craft beers, but ongoing investment and an unwavering focus on quality has seen this small estate gain a reputation for some very nice wines.

Amongst them is the excellent rosé which in the glass is so pale that it could almost be considered a “blanc de noir” but when seen in the bottle the pink hue is clear to see.

And on the nose, subtle notes of strawberry mingling with citric notes leave us in no doubt that we are drinking a dry and crisp rosé.

The wine is fermented and aged in the estate’s custom-built concrete vats which give the wine a soft texture in the mouth balanced with good acidity and flavours of grapefruit and cherry leading to a dry finish.

The wines of Quinta dos Santos can be sampled at the estate which also has a restaurant with a charming courtyard shaded by an old olive tree and a terrace overlooking the vineyard.

Distributed by Prime Wine of Loulé and available at supermarkets such as Intermarché, or directly from the company’s warehouse, €11.99.
