Environmental campaign reaches out to 20,000 people

A campaign to promote environmental awareness relating to waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries took place at the beaches of Portimão, Faro, Tavira, Loulé and Lagos last month.

ERP Portugal, which is responsible for electrical waste management, undertook an educational campaign, with the support of several municipalities, through recreational activities to educate schoolchildren, teachers and families.

The initiative was judged a success by the many people who took the opportunity to learn how to recycle electrical goods and how the Depositrão, a collection point for electrical goods for recycling, worked.

Filipa Moita, head of communication and awareness of ERP Portugal, said: “The campaign was a success. We reached out to more than 20,000 people in a very short time. People now know about the importance of the Depositrão.”
