Englishmen to the fore

While Tiger Woods’ Augusta comeback ended with a fourth place behind convincing winner Phil Mickelson, two Englishmen battled out the final round of the 18th Madeira Open. At the death, it was European Tour debutant James Morrison, who had exchanged a promising cricket career for golf at the age of 16, who claimed his first title at the main expense of Oliver Fisher by a one-shot margin. “I am over the moon”, the now 25-year-old said afterwards, “it will take some time for this victory to sink in.”
