Energy boost

The winter storms are reported to have saved the country as much as €846 million – with electricity produced by dams and wind farms up and down the country over the last few months hugely increased over power generated last year. Over 95% of the country’s power was produced by renewable energies this year, reports CM newspaper, while energy exports are up 80%. The “savings” were in the importation of gas and coal, which thanks to the terrible weather was down 38% compared to 2012.
