A new Government initiative to streamline Government offices in Portugal has seen Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Silva Gomes step down from his role as Faro Civil Governor.
All 18 Civil Governors in Portugal have been asked to step down as part of the new austerity measures imposed by the new Government.
At the time of his farewell, Silva Gomes said in a statement: “Following the new government decision on June 27 to put an end to all Civil Governors in the country, I have ended my function as Faro Civil Governor.”
