TONIGHT (JANUARY 6) at 9.30pm, the Jarkov Ballet Company from the Ukraine will be performing the spectacular The Nutcracker at Portimão’s municipal auditorium.
This is a fantastic opportunity for families to end their Christmas festivities with a bang, by watching one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous ballets. The Nutcracker depicts the dream of a young girl, Clara, during which a present from her godfather Drosselmeyer, a nutcracker, turns into a handsome prince who leads her into the magical world of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Since its birth in 1995, the Jarkov Ballet Company has performed a variety of classical ballets, from composers such as Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Verdi and Puccini to name a few. The company has toured Canada, the US, South Korea, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, where they have performed more than 30 ballets including Swan Lake and The Nutcracker as well as performing to operas such as Tosca, La Traviata and Boris Godunov.
