Residents from a village near São Brás de Alportel have started a petition against the new route of EN2 road between São Brás de Alportel and Faro.
The petition, by the residents of Machados, asks for an explanation about the proposal after a previous plan was turned down.
Two members of the PSD Algarve political party, Mendes Bota and Antonieta Guerreiro, have also asked for details from Estradas de Portugal and the Ministry of Public Works of the environmental impact studies of the previous and the current plan.
The politicians want to see the environmental impact study from the previous proposal, in 1998, which was initially denied for environmental reasons, and the new environmental impact study of the current route.
