EN125 roadworks resume tomorrow

Roadworks on the EN125 road between Vila do Bispo and Olhão are resuming on January 12 after a break that lasted much longer than expected.

Sulinformação website suggests building concession Rotas do Algarve Litoral will be holding a ceremony to relaunch the works at the Caliças roundabout in Lagos.

The news has been welcomed by frustrated mayors the length and breadth of the region.

Said Jorge Botelho, president of AMAL (Algarve municipalities association): “We just hope they are finished soon.”

The works stopped in July for what was billed at the time as a “summer break”. The government pledged activity would resume in September, but continual postponements followed – and there is still no date set for the start of vital renovations needed for the stretch between Olhão and the border town of Vila Real de Santo António.
