Following a few ‘false starts’ (like the wrangle between the economy minister and the finance minister over potential cuts to the IRC business tax), António Saraiva, president of Portugal’s employers’ CIP confederation, has told Rádio Renascença’s ‘Hora da Verdade’ programme that he is confident in the government’s strategy for spending in 2023. He says he believes there will be a reduction in IRC, from 21 to 19% – and that agreements over public sector salaries and competitivity will come. These particular talks are scheduled to take place next week.
