CIAMPINO AIRPORT in Rome was temporarily closed on Monday after a Ryanair aircraft suffered “substantial damage” as it made an emergency landing.
Ryanair said that the incident occurred after birds were sucked into the engines as the plane came into land in Italy and pictures of the plane on the Ryanair website show red around the engines and nose of the plane.
Two cabin crew and at least three passengers were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
