Dear Editor,
I was appalled and amazed the other day while driving on the toll road at Messines. This time it was not due to the weird and wonderful driving styles of the Portuguese, but the stupidity of adhering to rules and regulations. An ambulance, with its lights flashing, obviously responding to an emergency call was made to stop at the toll barrier and collect a ticket. This delay in getting help to an emergency seems to me ridiculous, how can this country stop much needed help getting to its people just because rules are rules?
