Emergency landing after passenger becomes ill and dies

A Tenerife-bound Air Europa plane had to make an emergency landing at Lisbon airport on Wednesday last week after a passenger felt unwell on board and later died.

According to EFE news agency, Air Europa informed that the passenger, a 45-year-old man, had felt unwell soon after the plane took off from Madrid and was assisted by the air hostesses and a couple of doctors on board.

Due to the gravity of the situation, the plane was forced to make an emergency in Lisbon at 7.27am, but the passenger eventually succumbed to his illness.

The Portuguese Legal Medicine Institute confirmed that the victim was Spanish and that an autopsy was due to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
