Members of the Bombeiros, maritime police, GNR, port officials and employees of Vilamoura Marina took part in an emergency drill at the marina.
The exercise was created to test the response capacity of emergency services in the area and included tests based on a fuel spill scenario, a fire on the pier, and a sinking vessel.
Márcia Viegas from Vilamoura Marina said: “The marina is home to an average of 825 vessels up to 60 metres in length while the surrounding area is a tourist attraction with thousands of visitors circulating daily.
“The safety of the people and the assets of the Marina is our priority and because of this we invest in maximising emergency responses which form part of our internal emergency plan.”
