DIPLOMATS AND guests gathered last week to celebrate Canada Day, enjoying drinks and a light lunch at the Canadian Embassy in Lapa, Lisbon. Conrad Sheck, Counsellor in the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section, described the event as an occasion to thank various people with whom the Embassy has worked over the last year. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of countries and show pride in one of the best places to live in the world. This is also the 60th anniversary of the establishment of trade relations between Canada and Portugal,” he told The Resident. G.H.
