EMA recommends 4th dose of Covid vaccine for everyone over age of 60

EMA, the European medicines authority, is recommending that everyone over the age of 60 should be offered a 4th dose of the Covid vaccines in face of what it describes as “the start of a new wave of infections throughout Europe”. The 4th dose is being presented as a ‘2nd booster shot’. Today’s announcement effectively updates EMA’s advice of April, in which it recommended administration of the 4th dose only to people over the age of 80. No reference has been made to warnings that the current strain of Omicron appears to affect people who have already received booster shots worse.
