Portugal’s new links with China have now extended to the point where crack Chinese police are coming here for training sessions.
As police union spokesman Paulo Rodrigues explained, many of the agents have been honing police skills since childhood.
Talking to Diário de Notícias, the president of the ASPP/PSP said: “Many of them have been trained in martial arts since they were six years old, and been in police training from the age of 16.”
Thus what they have to learn from Portugal’s finest is more connected to “narrowing ties” with other nations and “evaluating the level of their forces”, explained a police source.
This far, agents from Peking have had practice at “reactive and tactical shooting” and training with Portugal’s bomb squad, reports DN.
