Portimão’s old fish auction market building (Antiga Lota de Pesca) by the riverside provides the perfect backdrop for a series of music and art events until September 1.
Called [email protected] 2012, the initiative by cultural association Plataforma Download brings together a number of musicians, DJs, producers and visual artists, who will be performing their art on an outdoor stage each Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7pm.
This is the second year [email protected] is being held, again featuring a vast programme of events dedicated to music and visual arts in various formats, promoting interaction between the artists and the general public.
Organisers said: “We want to show the population that Portimão has great potential for the creative arts.”
While the building’s façade will be used to display videos, where the creative use of light and music will combine harmoniously, inside the old fish market visitors will be able to enjoy several art exhibitions in a unique setting, part of Portimão’s fishing history.
On August 10 and 11, the initiative will also include an event in Alvor, the Electric Download @ Restinga, to take place at Campo da Restinga, near the beach. DJs participating include Stereossauro, champion of the DMC World DJ Championships, Zacarocha and RoundHouse Kick.
