Two women described as “elderly foreign tourists” were attacked on Monday afternoon as they walked through an area of scrubland near Albufeira’s Alpinus hotel.
Police say a group of three muggers was hiding on the land, and threw the couple to the ground, making off with a gold chain from one of the women’s necks.
One of the victims suffered “injuries to her knees”, reports Correio da Manhã.
