A 60-year-old man was killed instantly when he was run over by a truck on the EN124 road near São Bartolomeu de Messines early on Monday morning (August 1).
The victim, described as local resident João Neto, reportedly died immediately.
National tabloid Correio da Manhã described the impact in gruesome detail, saying “parts of the man’s body were scattered several metres along the road.”
The accident happened just before 6.30am.
Traffic was held up for around an hour as GNR police began their investigation.
The dead man’s remains have been taken to Portimão’s division of legal medicine.
