Australian police came to the rescue of an elderly man who got lost and drove 370 miles in the wrong direction.
Eric Steward, who suffers from slight dementia, left his home in New South Wales and took the wrong turning on the Hume Highway, a motorway that runs between Sydney and Melbourne.
After driving for nine hours in the wrong direction, the 80-year-old pulled his car over and approached two policemen for help at a service station.
The policeman contacted Eric’s family and he was reunited with his wife, who knew he was lost but hadn’t realised he had gone so far out of his way.
