Education minister describes concerns over Russian pupils in Portuguese State system

Portugal’s new education minister João Costa said yesterday that the country has already seen more than 2,000 Ukrainian children enrolled in schools since arriving here as refugees. But he has expressed concerns for the welfare of Russian pupils in the State system which, he says, “are not responsible for what the president of their country is promoting”. The Russa Pushkin Russian association here has already warned of the ‘persecution’ of Russians in Portugal, many of whom arrived here to escape the regime and are deeply troubled by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
