EDP boss scoops €2.1 million in salary and bonuses

EDP executive president António Mexia scooped over €2.16 million in salary and bonuses last year.

The overall costs to EDP by its ‘social organs’ (directors) came to €17.9 million, writes Expresso.

Former Socialist minister Luís Amado, president of EDP’s general council – a role that requires no executive functions – received €515,000.

The second highest payment totalled “almost 1.5 million” and went to director João Manso Neto.

By coincidence both Mexia and Neto have been at EDP’s helm since 2006 – the era under intense public ministry ‘investigation’ due to suspicions the power giant received preferential treatment from the government, in those days headed up by José Sócrates, who is facing prosecution for corruption.
