TAVIRA CÂMARA has bought four bicycles for staff in an effort to be environmentally friendly and help workers lose weight.
Staff are entitled to use the bicycles, which have cost taxpayers a total of 925.26 euros, to travel from the câmara building to meetings and business appointments.
The câmara said it was an incentive to promote healthy living habits, exercise in the workplace and environmentally friendly modes of transportation. Câmara President, Macário Correia, is a great advocate of cycling and is often seen in the town on his way to work, riding his bicycle.
