THE NUMBER of batteries collected in Portugal in 2007 increased by 10 per cent compared with figures from 2006, revealed a report from Ecopilhas, the company responsible for collecting the items for recycling purposes.
Nearly 20 million batteries were collected by Ecopilhas this year when compared to the 17 million batteries collected in 2006.
Entering now in its fourth year of activity, the company has so far collected 61 million batteries for recycling purposes.
