Eclectic work

A new exhibition of works by five artists will be launched at Galeria Corte-Real in Paderne on March 24 and 25.

Inspired by different subject matter and using a variety of painting techniques, the opening weekend is planned as a social occasion with wine tasting and savoury refreshments.

Artists are Juli-Anne Coward with her architectural studies of Porto’s riverside buildings, Simon Plum with his surreal, yet lifelike compositions of northern England, Bill Bates with underwater nudes, Meinke Flesseman (pictured) with her portrayed young animals and John Lamonby with subtle images of the Algarve’s countryside and seashore.

Refreshments include fine wines from Herdade dos Grous and smoked salmon on soda bread prepared by chef Jonnie Pratt.

The gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm.

Call 918 980 199 and 912 737 762.
