MANY CÂMARAS across Portugal have joined an initiative to help bombeiros and emergency workers notify a person close to someone who may have been injured.
Albufeira, Cascais and Madeira, among other councils, signed up to the initiative last year.People programme the number of a person who should be contacted in emergency situations into their mobile phones under the letters ECE – Em Caso de Emergência (in case of emergency).This system is also useful in identifying a patient who is not carrying ID.
