Easter festival at Boavista

Four competitions were held as part of the inaugural Easter festival week at Boavista Golf Resort near Lagos between March 30 and April 5.

The festival opened with a ladies open competition on March 30, won by Amanda Rogers with a score of 37 points while Izaura Ayre came second with 36 points.

The following day, March 31, saw the men’s open, which was won by Eric Innes with 37 points who narrowly beat Alan Absalon with 36 points.  The longest drive was on the 13th hole by Miguel Estevão while John Geraghty was nearest the pin on the 4th.

The third competition of the week was mixed pairs held on April 1.  Kathleen Sells and Jonathon Moore took first place with 47 points while Barbara and Ken Bradley finished as runners up with 44 points.  Roberta Geraghty and Howard Morley each won the individual nearest the pin on the 4th and Trisha Pattison, nearest the pin on the 11th. There was a longest drive prize on the 13th for both Ladies and Gentlemen, kept in the family  and won by Amanda Rogers and also Nick Rogers.

Finally, there was a pairs open shotgun competition held on April 5 which attracted a field of 76 competitors. Winners were Karen Keogh and Simon Daly with 47 points followed by Barbara and Paul Gretton who were runners up with 44 points. The longest drives on the 13th were won by Joe Harper and Sophie Moore. Nick Page and Jennifer Jones were nearest the pin on the 4th while Karen Keogh was nearest the pin on the 11th.
