East Timor gives €1.3 million to victims of Portugal’s wildfires

The East Timor government has approved a proposal to give €1.3 million-worth of humanitarian aid to victims of the devastating fires that ravaged central Portugal this month.

At least 64 people died and another 150 were injured in the horrific blaze that started in Pedrogão Grande, Leiria and spread to Castelo Branco and Coimbra.

“The loss of lives is absolutely tragic. Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in Portugal,” said East Timor Prime Minister Rui Araújo.
