AN EARTHQUAKE measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale was felt in southern Portugal today (Friday).
The tremor occurred at 12.21am and the epicentre was 85km west-southwest of Cape St Vincent.
Along the Algarve and Alentejo coast the quake measured between four and five on the Mercalli scale and between two and three in Lisbon.
The Algarve’s emergency services command centre in Faro received some phone calls from citizens verifying the earthquake but no injuries were reported during the tremor.
