Early voting site launched as estimates point to 1/4 million in isolation on January 30

Mathematician Henrique Oliveira has estimated that the elections will be falling AFTER the current peak of Portugal’s latest wave of coronavirus infections. Thus, he suggests roughly 250,000 people (who would want to vote) will probably be in isolation on polling day. He came to this calculation explaining there will be up to 500,000 in isolation on January 30, but taking out the number of children, under-18s and likely ‘abstentionists’, this number comes down by at least half. With these constraints in mind, the government has today launched a site for voters to sign-up for ‘early voting’ on January 23. For more information click here.
