Portuguese tennis player João Sousa had a short run at the Australian Open this year, losing in the first round to Austrian opponent Dominic Thiem with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 result. The no. 50 ranked player admitted that he was bettered by Thiem, who played a “magnificent” game, and that there were “no excuses” for his loss at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.
