After a year of growth that saw their visitor numbers up 5.1%, the Algarve’s monuments will receive €4.3 million-worth of improvements to keep them in tip-top shape.
The renovations will be carried out at the five monuments managed by the region’s culture board – the Paderne and Silves castles, the Alcalar megalithic monuments, the Sagres fortress and Milreu’s Roman ruins.
More than half of the investment (€2.3 million) is covered by EU funding programme Cresc Algarve 2020.
