€30 million futuristic hotel with guest service robots opens in Porto

Portugal’s first Yotel brand hotel in Porto features innovative room-service robots.

The €30 million four-star Yotel Porto on Rua de Gonçalo Cristóvão, close to the Metro da Trindade station, features 150 rooms, a terrace, restaurant, public areas to work and a gym.

The project investment came from United Investments Portugal (UIP) with a strong focus on technology.

UIP is led by Carlos Leal and is part of the Al-Bahir Investment Group which also owns the Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira, Sheraton Cascais Resort, Quinta Marques Gomes in Porto and Hyatt Regency Lisboa.

Customers will be able to use the Yotel app for early check-in or for the self-service kiosks as well as creating a SmartKey on smartphones.

The app can also order services from hotel staff including additional room cleaning and TV and light control.

But one of the most innovative uses of technology at the hotel is room service carried out by little R2-D2-style robots (pictured) which can deliver drinks and extra towels.
