Just a few weeks after it was reported that a lack of investment was turning cruise ships away from Portimão port, the local council announced that nearly €1.9 million is being invested in works to build two new docking areas at the port and remove around 27,000m3 of silt from the Arade River.
Says the council, this will allow two ships to be docked at the port at the same time.
The works should be completed by July.
