Praia do Alemão (official name Praia do Barranco das Canas) in Portimão has become the second Algarve beach in two weeks to see a swimming ban imposed after routine water tests detected the presence of E.coli bacteria.
The swimming ban was imposed this Tuesday (August 27), with maritime authorities giving the order to raise a red flag at the beach.
New water samples were collected today but the results will only be known tomorrow.
On August 13, a similar swimming ban was imposed at Faro beach after “abnormally high” E.coli levels were also detected during routine water tests. (click here)
