VILA REAL DE SANTO ANTÓNIO Câmara is supporting a promotional tourism plan for 2005, developed by the Algarve Sotavento Association (ASA), by contributing 28,000 euros. The association’s strategy will focus on four key areas – marketing and communication, promotion, entertainment and professional training. The borough of Vila Real de Santo António, whose main beaches are Monte Gordo and Manta Rota, represents 40 per cent of the tourist offer within the Sotavento. The câmara wishes to develop a dynamic strategy for activity-related tourism, with particular emphasis on sporting events. The ASA, which was created to promote the Sotavento, is looking to improve the overall tourist offer in order to make the area more competitive with other destinations.
