A string of football matches organised by Dutch training experts Trainingskampen.nl will be taking place in the Algarve between January 4 and 11.
Starring a number of Dutch amateur clubs as well as a couple of top European clubs, such as Bayern Leverkusen (German), Lierse SK (Belgium) and Hereenveen (Holland), the matches will be divided into individual friendly matches and one final tournament on January 11.
The first match opposing Dutch amateurs teams v Woudenberg and v Hoogland will take place on January 4 at 2.30pm, at the F.C.Guia Stadium, but the spotlight will likely shine on the January 7 game – which could easily account for a major European competition match between Bayern Leverkusen and SC Hereenveen. The match will begin at 2.30pm at the Imortal Stadium in Albufeira.
The following day brings another game between top-league squads Lierse SK and SC Cambuur Leeuwarden at the same stadium starting at 3pm. The last two matches before the final tournament take place at the Ferreiras Stadium on January 10 starting at 12pm and 3pm bringing face to face D.V.V.’09 and OVV Oostvoorne, and later SC Heerenveen and Lierse SK.
The final day – January 11 – will bring the fifth edition of the Algarve Cup which this year will be dubbed the Paul Kronenburg Cup in honour of the late sports travel specialist who worked extensively in the Portuguese football market.
Matches on this day, starting at 2pm, will only go on for 40 minutes each and will be played at the Guia FC Stadium between the Dutch sides of VV Drechtstreek, FC Rijnvogels, OVV Oostvoorne and VV Zuiland.
