British band Duran Duran have cancelled their concert due to take place on August 16 at Herdade dos Salgados in Albufeira.
The band have cancelled their entire European tour due to health problems affecting the lead singer Simon Le Bon.
A spokesman from concert organisers Allgarve said: “Simon Le Bon is suffering from voice problems due to a blockage in the muscles that control the vocal chords. Despite continued therapy and a rigorous treatment plan, the band has been forced to cancel concerts planned for their summer tour, including the one in the Algarve.”
The concert was part of the Allgarve summer entertainment programme and has left the events organisers looking to either reschedule the concert or to look for an alternative option.
“We regret this unexpected change to the Allgarve programme of events and are currently studying the feasibility of providing a new concert date for the band or an alternative to the concert,” added the Allgarve spokesman.
